Pausing of Retreats

We are hoping to host more retreats in the future, but unfortunately do not have funding to do so at the moment. It's really important to us to keep the retreat programme free and accessible for those who need it and we are currently searching for ways to do this sustainably going forward. If you would like to be put on our waitlist in the meantime, please send your details via the contact form.

Our signature recovery solution is a 3-day residential retreat which aims to provide a space of restoration and healing for those experiencing moral injury and burnout.

The programme uniquely brings together individuals from different vocational backgrounds and through guided talking circles, therapeutic activities and psychoeducation facilitates a journey of recovery for those participating.

The retreat content is designed based on the co-founders’ collective research findings and is built on these core principles:

  • Rapport

Building a community of peers within an equal and safe space.

  • Reflection

Story-telling sessions where experiences can be shared to understand the (often resonant) challenges/trauma individuals have encountered.

  • Re-Member

Reconnecting with a vocational desire or calling and exploring possibilities for a professional future.

  • Ritual

Healing through group-based approaches built on a foundation of transparency, honesty, respect and empathy.

  • Renewal

Understanding how an individual can transform the deepest of struggles into the greatest of strengths through the concept of post-traumatic growth.

  • Rebuild

Experience how support networks can be built and maintained post-retreat through semi-formalised peer-mentoring and sustainable communication ‘tools’ to take away.

The retreats take place in peaceful and rural locations, with optional walks and time outside always on offer. Priority is given to selecting comfortable accommodation to ensure that participants are able to relax and enjoy alone time for reflection.

While the retreat is an opportunity to share experiences and process difficult emotions, it is also a time and place to rest.

Alongside space for sharing and learning, the retreat offers time for reflection and creative expression through an expert-led music therapy workshop and mindfulness session. All meals are provided.

At the heart of our work is the belief that healing for burnout and moral injury should be a right and accessible to everyone. Recovery should not be a luxury that only some can afford. Moral Injury Partnership therefore asks for a small donation from retreat participants (ideally to be covered by employers) to honour attendance and offers the remainder of the programme for free.

At present we are able to do this with the support of charitable funding but are actively exploring other routes for financial sustainability.

Programme Themes

  • Day One

Who I am and making sense of my experience.

  • Day Two

Letting go of the past and forgiving myself and others.

  • Day Three

Post Traumatic Growth and forging a meaningful future

National Lottery Foundation

We are grateful to the National Lottery Foundation for supporting a series of retreats in 2023 and 2024. We are delighted to be working in partnership with the International Centre for Moral Injury at Durham University to evaluate the effectiveness of these retreats and add to the emerging evidence for group-based approaches to moral repair and recovery.
